JFv1.42 is out!
February 10, 2009I’ve just released JFv1.42 for RC33 and ADP1.1h – h for holiday.. the new “holiday release” that dev phones got OTA today.
There are no major changes to report for ADP1.1h, other than the changes from the “unofficial” ADP1.1 to the official ADP1.1h, which include the RC33-esque goodness you might expect, including Latitude, Google Voice Search, and the various market improvements. You can find the base (non-JF) ADP1.1 update over on Disconnect’s blog
For RC33, the only change is a fix for an issue with recovery mode; namely, adb wasn’t enabled.
For RC8, sorry guys. You’re stuck at JFv1.41 for now, until I release a new version with changes, or t-mobile UK releases their framework v1.1 version of the UK firmware.
As always, this update is inclusive of all the prior updates, the most recent being JFv1.41, which you can find details on over at xda-dev

JFv1.43 fixes this issue

So yea, this update apparently eats up battery like the cookie monster eats cookies. Going to try a wipe and fresh install rather than the auto update.

If I wanted to build it myself using the “JFv1.42_RC33_BuildEnvironment” files, what other files do I need? Or how would I go about “make”ing the compiled code?

UK update will be released on the 15th

You’ll need to downgrade to RC29, then “root” the phone. Here’s a quick ‘n dirty tutorial.

Hey Jf, I’m wanting to mod my stock RC33 (no previous mods) to your Jf 1.42-RC33 release for multitouch support but the issue I am having is no data plan on my SIM.
I am worried about the initial google activation screen once I flash to an earlier build to gain root… Is this something I should worry about or is there a way around it? Thanks for your hard efforts!

You can register without a data plan (via wifi) once you downgrade. Info on how to do so is available here

Will an update from JF1.41 RC33 to JF1.42 RC33 require a wipe?
February 13th, 2009 at 12:54 pm
Can I update from JF1.41, directly to JF1.43?

My updates are comprehensive, it doesn’t matter what version you currently have. You can flash any version over any other version. The only place where it matters is whether you have to do a wipe. The general rule is that as long as you stay on the same “build” (i.e. US firmware (RC30/RC33), UK firmware (RC8), or ADP1 firmware), then you shouldn’t have to do a wipe. But that’s not always the case, especially if you’ve installed themes in the past, or used the “apps to sdcard” or “cache to sdcard” modification.

it seems as though they also removed the ability for ADP users to install “copy protected” apps somewhere along the line. is there anyway to get around this? i returned my g1 for the adp so i could develop apps (and get the nifty back plate since i paid 399 for the g1 anyway) but now i cant install some of the apps i had and used quite frequently.

I suspect you have to use the US or UK versions to get the copy protected apps. Although it may be possible to spoof the fingerprint and get them on the ADP1. I’ll play around with it sometime, and see if I can figure it out.

I have a US ADP with the holiday 1.43 build on it. It seems like google blocked ADPs from viewing copy protected apps on the market, when I reflashed my ADP with the previous G1 nandroid backup I had, they all reappeared fine, but I didnt have my dev phone. Is there a huge difference in firmware from your RC33 to your ADP builds? or could it be just whatever the market is checking on the ADP to block them could be changed?

is the 1.43 holiday bugfix for rc33 also or just adp1? also do you recomend rc33 lite?

Hey, i just want to say thanks, what you’ve done here is a step to having many different flavors of android. Oh, and your version kicks the original version’s ass. I might donate if you had an online method. JesusFreke, or the messiah?

Today I went ahead and rooted my phone. Everything installed fine but I can no longer make over receive calls. Incoming or outgoing neither side rings when calling. I heard something about a radio update but couldn’t find a link to such.

I was using JFv1.4 for RC30 on my G1
but now I want to upgrade to 1.43 holiday.
I shut the phone down and click home + end
I appeared “Android system recovery utility Build JFv1.4″
but i wasn’t able to install because of “No signature” error.
don’t tell me that I have to downgrade to RC29 and upgrade to 1.43?
